A Fragrant Feature
2021 is here and Vian Studios’ series of blogs featuring individuals and their creativity continues! We have partnered with Anthony Tippins, who has been a fragrance specialist for 24 years at Nordstrom, and was also the style feature for Seattle Magazine in October 2019. Anthony has shared with us the importance of scents, along with the happiness and emotion they can evoke. Anthony is a 2 time cancer survivor and volunteer’s his services for “Surviving with Style,” a charity fashion show for Cancer Pathways.
Can you tell me a bit about your background and what you do at Nordstrom?
I am currently the business manager for fine fragrances at Flagship Nordstrom in downtown Seattle.
Why do you love perfume/fragrance?
I love how it makes me feel. My final accessory. The memories it may provoke. I love how it makes others feel.
What new fragrances do you recommend for self splurges or gifts for others?
Valentino’s voce viva, a perfume de Marly men’s and women’s collection sets. Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat rouge 540.
Do you have a go-to fragrance for winter?
My go to fragrance for winter is Diptyque’s Tempo, a blend of patchouli (a plant native to tropical regions of Asia) and mate tea. For a pick me up, Aqua Universalis from Maison Francis Kurkdjian.
What did the holiday season look like for you? Do you have a favorite holiday food dish?
My holiday season was simply understated. Home gifts are my gifts of choice, shower gels, candles, diffusers. We love our panettone, an Italian sweet bread with citrus. Slightly toasted goes great with my morning espresso.
Can you tell me about the volunteer work you do for Cancer Pathways?
I have volunteered my services for “Surviving with Style” a charity fashion show for Cancer Pathways. I’ve done this for the past 10 years in teaching the survivors how to walk the runway, seeing that I’ve choreographed a number of shows for Luly Yang and Gene Juarez Salons.
