Influencing Through Quarantine
Vian Studios has been busy launching our new jewelry and scarf collection, as well as a multitude of new face masks. We would like to introduce Seattle based influencer Elle Florence, who shares with her followers her every day life including: fashion, home made jewelry, and cooking (elleflorence.com). Thank you for taking the time for this interview Elle! Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
In 2011 I was finishing my master’s thesis in law when I decided that I wanted to join in as a creator and share style tips and items that brought me joy in my everyday life as a graduate student and then as a young professional. As I got busier with my career as a lawyer I struggled to find time to keep up regular content on my channel, so I started just filming what I wore every day to work. At the time my workplace was business formal and there wasn’t a lot of content out there that featured outfits that would be wearable for that environment.
I’m so proud of the community of vivacious, smart and stylish women I’ve brought together, and it all started very serendipitously.
The rest is history. My philosophy in life and online has always been about balancing aesthetics and practicality, and to this day that informs everything I share.
Has fashion always been important to you? Has your style changed since March 2020?
Like most, my style has become a bit more casual since we all started working from home. I still enjoy getting dressed in the morning though, and I've leaned in to cute dresses as well as being dressed up on top and wearing comfy bottoms for video calls! I think beautiful fabrics like silk masks and fun prints are really going to propel us into feeling both fabulous and safe, which is what I love most about fashion! Being your best most stylish self can be both authentic and timely and I'm looking forward to continuing to find and share ways to do that.
Have you always loved cooking? Can you tell me about your virtual bistro? Your breakfast egg sandwich with jam is next on my list of recipes to try!
My mom is a terrific cook so I learned from the best. At first it was out of necessity so that I could still eat my favorite Italian and French foods while away at college, and then over time it has grown into a passion that I love to share. My breakfast sandwich that I shared on elleflorencebistro.com is one of those recipes that's really just a tasty twist on a simple favorite. Salty and sweet combinations always get me. I love to share simple but delicious recipes that you can make at the end of a long work day or take to work. Recently I shared some ideas of snacks to bring on hikes as I've been loving exploring the natural beauty of Washington State!
As an accomplished influencer what advice would you give to those starting out?
Share what feels authentic to you! Don’t focus on numbers, focus on creating a positive and engaged community of like minded people, even if that starts out and remains small. Social media has always been about that for me, but I think it’s too often forgotten.
